2009/2010 Training Schedule
For the 2009/2010 Fall/Winter training schedule, the NBBOA will be offering its existing courses, which are based on the 1995 edition of the National Building Code. Next year, the course curriculum will be changing to be in alliance with the National curriculum. This new curriculum will result in the required courses doubling in number. For example, the existing course “The House” will be changed to a three day course “The House - Building Envelope” and a three day course “The House – Health and Safety”. For this reason, the NBBOA is offering its members a last chance to take the existing courses before the changed curriculum comes into effect next year. Also, the schedule will allow members who are part way through the training program to complete the rest of their courses. Members can also, if they so choose, take all the courses in this training season. These courses will be eligible for NBBOA and National Certification.
Prior to the new curriculum coming into effect next Fall 2010, members will be advised as to what credit they will receive for previous courses taken. For example, if a member has taken the existing course “The House”, they will get credit for “The House - Building Envelope” and “The House – Health and Safety” under the new curriculum. More information about credits and equivalencies will follow in the coming months.
The NBBOA is committed to providing a positive training experience for its members. Although this year’s courses will be using the 1995 National Building Code, participants will benefit from these courses by learning how to navigate through the Code and working in a team environment to discuss building inspection issues. |
